Types of Therapy Offered At Avenues

Individual Psychotherapy

Individual counseling is offered in a completely private and comfortable setting.   Together, we tackle the issues you want to resolve by using a structured problem solving approach. After identifying specific issues, we focus on changing underlying behavioral patterns so that long term results can be accomplished.

Avenues Unlimited has developed an effective technique in exploring and explaining emotions, their causes and resolution.

We address negative communication patterns that cause dysfunctional relationships using “Script” and “Game” analysis:

  • Examination
  • Information
  • Motivation
  • Modification

Some people find that individual therapy completes their needs for personal growth and awareness.  For many others group therapy and or couples therapy is the next step in their personal journey.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is often the next step after individual script work has been completed.  Our groups are small and confidential.  They are typically limited in size to six (6) individual members.  Group will meet for up to one and one half hours per session.  Because you are working with people who have similar issues as yourself, group will provide support that you could not get any other way.

Benefits of group include:

  • You can experience how others resolve similar issues to your own
  • You can work on your issues in a supportive environment
  • You are afforded the opportunity to work on your social skills
  • You are not alone
  • Make new friends

Couples Therapy

Our approach to couples therapy is typically an adjunct to individual counseling.

The operational definition for intimacy we use

  • Candid
  • Game free
  • Open honest communication
  • Between two people
  • Who love themselves as individuals
  • And choose to be together

With an attitude of problem solving rather than blaming, results occur.  This happens when both people understand their own individual issues and needs and wants and enter into relationship counseling.
